Asia | Hong Kong

It has long been known as the concrete jungle of Asia - but for us travelers, we see it as a land of exploration full of busy city life, heritage in the outskirts, art smack right in the middle of the city, hiking adventures just a few steps away from MRT stations and good food you might forget your name. It's time to discover Hong Kong beyond the hustle and bustle of the business and shopping districts.

Hong Kong is a short 2h 15min flight from Metro Manila, Philippines and widely serviced by multiple airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Philippines Air Asia, Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong Airlines (direct and non-stop). In the city, there are various options for transportation such as taxis, train and buses.

The main currency used is the Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) though larger establishments also accept US Dollars. It is still best to have your foreign currency exchanged in local money. Most establishments also use credit cards but for smaller ones, and even taxis - only cash cash is accepted.

Visa prior to travel to Hong Kong SAR is not required and Filipino passport holders may for transit, tourism or business no more than 14 days. If your travel is more than 14 days, you are required to secure a Visa and may check out this link for further details.

Hong Kong is predominantly a Chinese speaking country though many also speak English due to the influx of foreign business establishments. You may choose to download a translator especially if travelling to outskirts of the city.
